Question: I was indicted for theft by conversion. this case is 6 yrs. old. and I was indicted after I was employed as a county employee, for an incident that occurred before I was hired. County policy states I will have a job until which time a conviction happens or it is resolved. These charges were brought by an individual not law enforcement. The attorney for the other party has a son who is the county attorney. The attorney for the other party went to the county commissioner and told him I was under indictment in which I believe was an attempt to have me fired. The head of my department explained the county policy to the commissioner and it was handled. My question is, Is this an ethics violation on the attorney and do I have recourse

Answer: On which attorney? The attorney for the other party is the district attorney, because only the district attorney can bring criminal charges against you. I don`t think you really know what is going on. While you are still employed, I suggest that you use some of your income to retain an attorney.
